Tomáš David has been appointed the CEO of the EP ENERGY
Tomáš David has been appointed the CEO of the EP ENERGY Group (EPE). Mr David is replacing Jan Špringl who, within EPH, will focus on the management of the activities of Slovenský plynárenský priemysel (SPP). Mr Špringl remains on the EPE Board of Directors.
At the same time, the EP ENERGY Group’s Board of Directors has been extended and it currently includes the following members: Daniel Křetínský (Chairman), Jan Špringl, Marek Spurný, Tomáš David, Pavel Horský and Jiří Feist.
Tomáš David has been with EP ENERGY (including the Group’s legal predecessors) since 2007, where he has been in charge of the Power and Heat sector. Prior to that, he worked as the Chief Strategy Officer at Eurotel Praha and 10 years in A.T. Kearney, a leading global management consulting firm.
EP ENERGY is a vertically integrated energy utility covering the complete value chain from coal extraction to electricity and gas supply for end customers. EPE is the largest supplier of thermal energy and the second largest electricity producer in the Czech Republic. The co-generation capacities of Elektrárny Opatovice (EOP), Pražská teplárenská, United Energy (UE), MIBRAG, and Plzeňská energetika (PE) and the renewable capacities of EP ENERGY have a total electrical capacity of 1,054 MWe and a capacity of 4,716 MWt for heat production.
Through its combined heat & power generation plants, EP ENERGY supplies heat in the Czech Republic to approximately 360,000 households and also for corporate, municipal and institutional customers.
EP ENERGY is placed third in brown coal mining in Germany where it operates MIBRAG.
EP ENERGY is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ENERGETICKÝ A PRŮMYSLOVÝ HOLDING (EPH). The shareholding structure of EPH is composed of the PPF Group (44.44% of shares) and the J&T Group (through private equity structures – 37.04%); Daniel Křetínský holds 18.52% in EPH and is also responsible for its management.
The EP ENERGY Group has a total of 4,400 employees.
The total consolidated operating profit (EBITDA) posted by the companies belonging to the EP ENERGY Group for 2011 amounted to CZK 7.3 billion with total revenue of CZK 39.3 billion.
